Airport Struggles and the Birth of AirPretty

With the vision of helping female jetsetters feel and look great while they are traveling, I share my ideas with practically anyone who will listen. The feedback AirPretty has received has been overwhelmingly positive, and the most common thing I hear is “I NEED this!! When can I buy it!?” Well, keep calm ladies, we’re well on our way and will be offering some great products to keep you feeling AirPretty in the next couple months!

The second thing I hear from people is “what made you come up with this idea?” I’ll answer this by telling you a story that I’m sure most of you can relate to. The circumstances of my trip may vary from your own, but the main issues are pretty common. Let me know if you’ve ever been in a similar situation:

(This was during our layover in Dallas-smiling for the camera, but not smiling on the inside!)
(This was during our layover in Dallas after a delayed flight-I’m smiling for the camera, but not smiling on the inside!)

My guy and I are en route to visit his mom in Destin, FL. (Mind you, this is my first time meeting his mom, so I want to make a great impression.) We take a flight from LAX, connecting through Dallas, TX, and arriving in Destin, FL. Throw in some delays and what should have been a 7.5 hour trip turns into a 15 hour trip.

Of course, I got zero sleep on the plane because, well, who can actually sleep on an airplane? My neck is sore from trying to get some rest and having my neck at a 90 degree angle on my guy’s shoulder. Recirculated cabin air has made my eyes puffy and red, and my lips dry and flaky. Meanwhile my hair is oily and floating with static. My hands are cold and dry, my nose is running, and my makeup has completely lost its lustre, leaving me feeling and looking less than beautiful.

At this point, I’m not a happy camper, but I’m holding it together.

Upon exiting the plane, I take my bag and bee-line to the restroom to freshen up. I splash the cold water on my face, use a rough paper towel to wipe the runny makeup off my face, reapply my makeup, comb my hair, and head for the exit. Before leaving the bathroom I realize I forgot to apply the bug spray, so I reach into the blue Hudson News store bag where I had bought a tiny bottle of bug spray (for which we had paid an outrageous amount of money), and lather myself in it. The spray burned by eyes, my nostrils, and was spicy and bitter on my lips, my skin had an oily sheen to it, and at this point, I felt defeated

I exit the restroom to find my guy holding back a laugh. It turns out that the blue ink from the Hudson News bag had run from the bug spray, and was now smudged all over my hands, arms, and face. I looked like a member of the Blue Man Group and THIS is how I had to meet his family for the first time.

To make a long story short, I realized that things needed to change. Women shouldn’t have to feel awful on and after a flight, and they shouldn’t have to compromise their outer beauty just because of unfavorable conditions of air travel. So ladies, AirPretty is selfishly being created because I needed a solution, but I’m thrilled to be able to share it with all of you who can relate to my story in one way or another. Stay tuned for more updates!

Welcome to AirPretty! Luxury Travel Sized Beauty Products.

Ladies- let’s be real: when is the last time you got off an airplane feeling and looking fabulous?

…That’s what we thought.

The words “air travel” and “feeling great” typically don’t go hand in hand. In most cases, we feel gross, and we certainly don’t look our best when coming off a long flight. Why should we have to sacrifice beauty and comfort just to get from “point A” to “point B”? We don’t think you should and with AirPretty, you don’t need to.

We know you care about feeling fresh and fabulous, but you also care about convenience. Let’s face it, you don’t want to be spending your time primping in the tiny, germ ridden on-board lavatories, but you don’t have the luxury of an on-board day spa either. We’ve got your back.
